Fitness & Wellness

General Fitness

Fitness is an essential part of a healthy & happy life, and a key part of our wellness program. Campers are encouraged to sign up for a variety of classes – weight training, boot camp, crossfit style classes, yoga, zumba, running, aerobics, and more.

Certified staff trainers create specialized female and male classes, as well as developing individualized plans.  Our gym is also staffed during free time to provide a safe space for campers to exercise outside class time.

Campers who are recovering from injuries or surgery, or are following a customized P/T or fitness plan are encouraged to share details ahead of camp, so we can assist in compliance and best results.

Yoga/Meditation

Our yoga classes are taught by and overseen by one of our most senior staff, Arvind Zanje. Arvind is a Master trained instructor from India.

With focus on movement, classes are designed to encourage even novice yoga enthusiasts to give it try. Each yoga class ends with group meditation.

Camp’s natural setting provides the perfect backdrop for wellness. We focus on all aspects of a healthy life - physical health, social health, and mental/emotional health (mind health). If we had to sum up MTCs approach to wellness in one word, it would be connection.

Camp is device-free, which not only allows campers the chance to re-calibrate their relationship with technology, but also frees up time and attention to engage in healthy activities. Time in nature. Exercise. Sleep. Face to face peer interaction, with peers who are not distracted by technology. Play/having fun. Boredom/daydreaming. All of these can be thought of as connections (to self, to others, to nature).

We role model, coach, and encourage campers to work on social skills while at camp. We believe that isolation/lonliness is one of the biggest threats to individual and social health, and that isolation can be most effectively combatted by making and keeping connections with others.  Connection skills are learned skills, refined through repitition, role-modeling, and support.
